Recreational Vehicle (or RV for short) owners are in a unique position to take advantage of solar power. The twelve volt (12V) power system used in most RVs can be easily modified to accommodate solar augmentation. The question facing RV owners looking to purchase solar panels is usually this. How much solar power should I be buying for my RV? What you purchase depends on many factors, a few of which are covered here.

The first thing you want to consider when considering solar power is what you want to accomplish with it. Do you want your RV to be completely independent, able to stay in a location for weeks at a time without requiring a power charge or generator? Or are you simply looking to get extra battery life out of your RV? Complete self sufficiency is a great option for those with enough surface area to accomplish it.

You can find out where repo campers are being auctioned by contacting any bank or by contacting some other lending institution. It might take several tries to actually get the right department on the phone, but stay with it and ask good questions. Eventually you’ll get there. Hopefully you’ll be able to find campers with multiple lenders. American General Finance is a good example of one large subprime lender-the largest on the West Coast. They’ve always been great about financing buyers who can’t find financing elsewhere. An established subprime lender like that is generally sure to have bank repo camper opportunities at any given time.

You may end up buying the repo camper at either a silent auction or a vocal auction, depending on the preference of the lender. Hopefully you’ll be free to inspect the camper before auction. You should at least be allowed to give it a walkthrough. Once you’ve made the purchase, the sale is final. The camper is purchased As-Is.

As an RV owner you’ve always enjoyed the lifestyle and freedom your rig has given you, but having enough electricity when you’re not near a hookup does present a challenge.

Up until recently, RV owners had two choices to prevent draining their batteries when using their on-board electrical appliances:

1. Run the RV engine to recharge the batteries

2. Run a generator

In today’s “Green” world, neither of those two options are really appealing – especially when you consider the noise and/or environmental pollution. But smart RV owners have found an answer: installing solar panels on to their RV.

The best way to locate a repo RV is through making contact with a bank or other lending institution. You may face some challenges getting to the right person who can answer your question, but be persistent. Eventually you’ll learn what’s available and whether their auctions are open to anyone. Ideally, you’ll find good bank repo RV opportunities with several different lenders. The largest West Coast subprime lender, historically, has been American General Finance. That’s where we used to send any buyers we knew couldn’t get financing elsewhere. Those kinds of subprime lenders are the ideal place to find bank repo RVs.

Sometimes the repos are sold at silent auctions, and other times you’ll need to attend a vocal auction. They should let you inspect the RV before the auction, but RV bank repo sales are considered final. It’s an As-Is arrangement.

We all like a good bargain when we can find one. I’ve yet to meet an RVer who doesn’t, even if they’re driving a top-of-the-line and beautiful Class A motorhome.

Here’s an example, based on an offer I recently received. First, it appears to be a great bargain: a free lunch or dinner, an MP3 player, and a 90-minute “conference” on “Internet Marketing Strategies” for only an investment of my time. The official tickets we received, one for me and one for a guest, were impressive; they even had the reservation ID printed on them.

Because I sell an RV accessory on the internet, I’m interested in internet marketing. I thought, “Hey, I can always learn something useful! And my wife has been interested in an MP3 player, so let’s go!” I called the specified 800 number and made a reservation for the lunch-time conference.

From 1970’s till 90’s Volkswagen was replacing its rear-engined vehicles with more modern front-engined models. It happened with Volkswagen Vanagon, a rear engined van that was replaced in 1993 with the front-engined Euro Van. Because the engine was mounted in the front, TDI diesel engines with direct injection were used to power the vehicle. Euro van was offered in different configurations such as the seven-passenger GLS, Weekender, Camper, high-roof panel van and many more.

Euro Van was powered by a 109-horsepower, 2.5 liter five-cylinder engine that drove the front wheels. Euro van was available in three versions, all of which seated seven passengers. Euro Van CL came up with power brakes, bucket seats, power steering and a rear window defroster. The GL version has air conditioning, power heated mirrors and a cassette player. ML version came up with swiveling bucket seats, swing-up table and rear seats that folded into a bed.
