Is the 3,000-Mile Oil Change Necessary Or is it Just Marketing?

September 21, 2009 · Filed Under Automotive · Comments Off

How often should you change the oil in your car?

If you automatically guess 3,000 miles you could be wrong.

When I was 16 and bought my first cool car, my dad taught me to change the oil every 3,000 miles, no matter what! He taught me that because my Grandfather taught him.

But is it really necessary?

I think that the “3,000 Mile Oil Change” theory made sense years ago, but with most recent cars, 5,000 miles is probably plenty. However, there are a few vehicles that may go as high as 12,000 miles between oil changes.

Many new cars have a technology where the car actually tells the driver when to change the oil.

Cars that currently have this variable/indicator light are GM, Honda and Chrysler.

September 20, 2009 · Filed Under Automotive · Comments Off

Buying a car can be one of the most intimidating experiences in life. But it doesn’t have to be! Preparation is the key! Do your research; know what you want, and most importantly what you can afford! You may be tempted to first find the vehicle you want and then figure out how to pay for it later.

Any loan can have an affordable monthly payment if you extend the term long enough, but that can add significantly to the total cost of the car. Focus on the total amount financed rather than on the monthly payment alone! Provide as much cash up front to avoid the car being worth less than the loan.

There is a large part of the car-buying population who won’t even consider buying a new car. In fact, used car sales outnumber new car sales three to one!

The True Cost of Turbo Conversion

September 19, 2009 · Filed Under Automotive · Comments Off

Converting your car from non-turbo performance to a turbo car performance in a proper way would cost thousands of dollars. Why? This is because you would have to replace almost everything when converting your car from a non-turbo to turbo. First, you would have to choose an engine and the possibilities here would be endless. If you choose to stick with what you have and it would most likely be an aspirated one then you would have to adjust the level of compression level to 7.5:1 so that your engine would be able to handle the heat and the pressure that turbo boost would generate. You would have to purchase stainless steel valves for the cylinder head to attain durability and forged pistons and total-seal rings to ensure reliability and performance. Not to mention having the car’s fuel management changed to fuel injection.

After preparing the car for turbo conversion and installing a turbo charger then you would have to purchase a lot more parts. Not only would it be a source of a head ache because there are so many to choose from, but it would also be very expensive. You would have to buy a waste gate, fabricate a turbo exhaust manifest, boost controllers, boost valves, compressor by pass valves and inter cooler plumbing to name a few. Fuel injector parts are also usually upgraded. This is why it is tempting to just partially convert the car; this however may result in you spending even more money than just properly converting the non-turbo car into a high performance turbo car.

HHO Kits – Beat the Gas Pump With Gas4free, Water4gas Or Simplewaterfuel

September 7, 2009 · Filed Under Automotive · Comments Off

Two words that have dominated the public conversation for the past few years are “gas prices.” Skyrocketing several dollars per gallon, rising gas prices have drastically changed the way many Americans live their lives. Suddenly, every trip or drive or errand becomes something to be weighed and considered in light of the potential expense. Families don’t get to visit relatives as much. Many less people go on vacation or road trips. A trip to the grocery store for milk may cost more in gas than the gallon of milk itself. While prices may have dropped recently, they’re destined to rise again as gas is in-demand and becomes increasingly rare.

Despite all this, there is a simple way that most people can manage to outsmart the gas pump and reclaim their freedom to roam. That way is the HHO Kit. HHO kits are revolutionary kits that can be installed on any car. The HHO kit is fueled by a completely free substance: water. The HHO kit converts the water into its gas-base, hydrogen. The hydrogen is sucked into your car’s engine. Once inside it mixes with the gasoline to maximize your fuel usage. NASA has long used hydrogen to fuel its spaceships and rockets, and now every person can have their own space-age vehicle with an HHO kit.

Are Bigger Car Wheels Better?

July 3, 2009 · Filed Under Automotive · Comments Off

One question that is commonly asked by many car owners is whether bigger car wheels are truly better than smaller sized ones. In a world where technology has broken down a great many boundaries, it is often said of many things that size does not matter. There are, however, still some situations in which size does matter. In fact, in the case of car wheels, size makes a great deal of difference.

It is easy to dismiss big car wheels as simply being a fancy of street racers and young punks attempting to look ‘cool’. Of course, this is definitely true. The younger generation posing on the streets are hardly concerned with the handling and comfort that bigger wheels provide so much as they are concerned with the boost to their image that such wheels give. Nevertheless, this is far from the only use that large car wheels have.

About Steel Rims And The Benefits Of The Chrome Wheel

July 3, 2009 · Filed Under Automotive · Comments Off

When automobile production first began decades ago, the universal rims provided by car manufacturers with their vehicles were steel rims. These steel rims were standard on almost every vehicle, and drivers generally had few or no options when it came to switching these steel rims for other rims. This was because rims made of other materials had not yet been developed, and it would be some time before alternatives to steel rims hit the open market.

Some time after the invention of the automobile, however, manufacturers of car parts began to develop rims using newly discovered materials, such as alloys. Rims made of these alloys would eventually come to replace steel rims as the industry standard.
