Motorcycle Helmet Safety – Know the Facts

Helmets are indispensable objects for all motorbike riders. Those wearing helmets are better protected against head injuries in road accidents, and in fact even the possibility of head injuries is a lot lower if you wear helmets. This fact has been reiterated and backed up with considerable proofs in researches conducted throughout the country. It has been said that wearing helmets bring down the risk of a head injury to just 15%; whereas the figure is a lot higher if you don’t wear helmets. Another body of people claims that helmets are the savior in motor accidents that would have otherwise been fatal.

The Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System study, better known as the CODES study says that helmets prevent brain injuries, and that bikers without helmets are three times more susceptible to brain injuries in an accident than those with helmets. The importance of wearing helmets has also been stressed upon by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It has also been proved that a relaxation in the motorcycle helmet laws in a state causes more accidents in that state.
